Oakworth Methodist Church: Candlelight Cabaret
The Candlelight Cabaret at Oakworth Methodist Church last weekend went really well – over 120 people enjoyed the Mini Meal and 8 cabaret acts and all were very impressed with their excellent evening out. The seven course meal was prepared by church members and served by a team of young people from many of the groups taking part in the cabaret. The tables were beautifully decorated and the meal was eaten in candlelight.
The cabaret included Guides/Brownies/Rainbows (singing), Scouts/Cubs (sketches), Oakworth Ladies’ Group (singing), Oakworth Morris Men (dancing), 3rd Age Singing for Pleasure Group (monologue and singing), KYDZ Keighley Youth Theatre (2 Eurovision Song routines), a monologue from MC John Shires and the act everyone was talking about, the pantomime senior dancers who wowed the audience with 3 routines: “Cabaret”, “Don’t Rain on my Parade” and “Twist and Shout”.
There was no charge for this event but donations to the Church Jubilee Fund over the weekend came to over £720.
It was wonderful to witness all the groups who use the church premises getting to know each other and working together really well as the evenings progressed. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were full of praise for the whole event. It was a privilege to be part of it!
