The terraces as they used to look - in front of the caves (Please click here for a larger view in a new window)

The terrace in front of the caves, taken from an old postcard of Oakworth views
Our thanks go to Moira Brown, niece of Frank Wigglesworth who supplied the postcard.

The terraces as they look now - in front of the caves (Please click here for a larger view in a new window)

The terrace in front of the caves as it appears today, note the marble drinking fountain which was originally in the middle of the road behind the Co-op building, in front of the old Wesleyan Board School building

The stalactites from about 80 years ago (Click for a larger view in a new window)

The stalactites from about 80 years ago, this was originally a large waterfall which cascaded over the top of the stalactites

The stalactites as they appear today (Click for a larger view in a new window)

The stalactites as they are today, all the ivy has now been cleared away.
They are quite damaged and a lot of features are missing, however the ivy which covered them seems to have saved them from a lot of weather erosion

23rd October 2004 - The two pictures above are of Fly Agaric toadstools, found under the pine trees by the entrance to the park. They will cause sickness if even a small amount  is eaten so if you see them, be careful not to touch them with your fingers.

Pictures taken on 15th January 2005 - A small bush and a mature tree at the park entrance were blown over in the gales early in January, the mature tree narrowly missing the portico.
We may be able to replant and stake the bush into position, but the tree will most probably have to be cut up for removal.

Our Kestrel box was on one of the trees, we will be repositioning the box on another tree..
