William is buried in France (see below), but is remembered on a family grave in Oakworth cemetery on Slack Lane.
The memorial inscription reads:
William Herbert, beloved husband of Lily Priestley (Daughter of Smith Davey)
who was killed in action Oct. 9th 1917, Aged 34 years. "Love is Eternal"
