Handbook

Oakworth Village Handbook

Oakworth Village Society have produced a handbook for the village every ten years since 1979. These contain historical and local information about our village and a local walk which can be followed using the book and the text highlights interesting places around the village as you walk.

Each issue has been distributed free to all Oakworth households at the time.

The Oakworth Handbooks have been funded by advertising and grants each time, although the percentage of advertising revenue has diminished over the years as it’s potential value changes for the advertiser and the last issue relied heavily on grant funding.

Here are the covers for each of our handbooks, which were produced in 1978; 1987; 1997; 2007; 2019:

If you’re lucky, older copies can be found at history fairs and occasionally for sale online but they are quite rare nowadays.
